Ukraine has banned the import of products from Crimea
Kyiv, October 10 (PolitNavigator, Victoria Litovchenko) – The State Veterinary and Phytoservice banned the import into the territory of Ukraine of products from Crimea, which are subject to state veterinary and sanitary control.

According to the State Veterinary and Phytoservice, in connection with the extraordinary situation that has arisen in relation to the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, namely the creation of the free economic zone "Crimea" with a special regime for conducting economic activities in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, the veterinary and sanitary control service and supervision of the epizootic situation is impossible here."
Referring to information from the International Epizootic Bureau and Rosselkhoznadzor, the State Veterinary and Phytosanitary Service notes that cases of particularly dangerous animal and poultry diseases (African swine fever, foot-and-mouth disease, bird flu) are constantly being recorded on the territory of the Russian Federation, and the situation in the territory of the Customs Union is also unstable. In particular, a batch of meat products produced in Belarus in which the genome of the causative agent of African swine fever was identified was withdrawn from circulation in Russia.
“Taking into account the above, as well as the uncontrolled movement of objects of veterinary and sanitary supervision through the Kerch crossing, having weighed the risks created for the epizootic well-being of the territory of Ukraine, the health and life of the population, the State Veterinary and Phytosanitary Service of Ukraine, from October 13, 2014, introduces a temporary ban on the movement of goods subject to state veterinary and sanitary control, from the territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol to other regions of Ukraine, as well as the transit of these goods through their territory,” the State Veterinary and Phytoservice stated.
As PolitNavigator previously reported, Rospotrebnadzor has banned the import of all confectionery products from Ukraine into Russia.
