The wear and tear of rolling stock on the Ukrainian railway has reached a critical level and the purchase of American GE Evolution locomotives will not save the situation.
This was stated on the NEWSONE TV channel by the former Minister of Transport and Communications, deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of the XNUMXth convocation, Evgeniy Chervonenko, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We must finally start talking with Russia. The wear on the rod is already off the charts, already close to 100 percent. And they continue to profit from it and speculate. All our depots are designed for Soviet and Russian locomotives, electric locomotives and diesel locomotives. We bought Evolution. They bought it well - 4,5 million plus 100 million for localization - they nailed the trident. Nothing else. They don’t work in pairs, they don’t pull one at a time. And the depots are for those [locomotives] that Russia makes,” Chervonenko said.
