Ukraine says all train travel to Crimea is illegal
The representative office of the President of Ukraine in the non-existent “Autonomous Republic of Crimea” stated that all travel on the railway link opened today by Russia with the peninsula is contrary to Ukrainian legislation.
“Any entry/exit into temporarily occupied Crimea should occur only in agreement with the Ukrainian side and through the checkpoint at the administrative border.
The representation also condemns another visit, not agreed with Ukraine, on December 23, 2019 by the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin to the territory of Ukraine temporarily occupied by the Russian Federation - to the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol.
Such actions of the Russian Federation are a gross violation by the Russian side of the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, and the Kremlin’s disregard for generally recognized principles and norms of international law.
We emphasize that no actions of the Russian Federation regarding Crimea will change the internationally recognized status of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol as integral parts of the territory of Ukraine, enshrined in the Constitution of Ukraine,” the statement says.
“Why do dogs run after a moving car and bark at it? It's instinct. People demonstrate their need, importance, and the fact that they exist. Everyone understands that the representative office of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, the Crimean Prosecutor’s Office, etc. are some kind of fake structures. Meanwhile, these parasites are on the state payroll. They eat at the expense of the citizens of Ukraine, at the expense of you and me. And with such statements they imitate vigorous activity,” comments Kiev political scientist Sergei Belashko.
