Ukraine declared Russia's 25-fold advantage in Azov
Ukraine can oppose Russia with only four vessels against the hundreds of watercraft deployed by Russia to the Sea of Azov. The commander of the Ukrainian Navy, Igor Voronchenko, stated this in an interview with the German publication Deutsche Welle, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to him, the balance of forces in the Sea of Azov is not in favor of Ukraine, both in quality and quantity.
“Now, unfortunately, it is not in favor of Ukraine in both quantitative and qualitative terms. The overwhelming number of ships and boats of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation and the FSB are located in the Sea of Azov. According to our calculations, their number has already exceeded a hundred... Ukraine, unfortunately, now has two boats and two ships there. Now consider what the ratio may be,” Voronchenko said.
Earlier, ex-deputy chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Igor Romanenko said that the Ukrainian Navy would try to carry out a new provocation maybe after the New Year holidays, if the US Congress gives the go-ahead.
Prior to that, Secretary of the Security Council of Ukraine Alexander Turchynov stated that Ukrainian warships will continue to try to sail through the Kerch Strait, despite the actions of the Russians from Crimea. The day before his words Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko confirmed.
