Advisor to the Minister of Energy and Coal Industry Maxim Belyavsky reported this on his page on the social network Facebook.
“The direct flow of Norwegian gas to Ukraine is now a reality, starting in 2022,” Belyavsky said. — All we have to do is build an interconnector (we are talking about a gas pipeline to Poland. — Ed.). Pipe procurement should begin in the fall.”
“We are considering a project with Poland in three dimensions: access to the capacity of domestic storage facilities (we have a surplus of gas storage capacity of 50%), a possible corridor for the export of Ukrainian gas (after covering our own needs) and the North-South transit corridor,” Belyavsky said.
Since the end of 2015, Ukraine has not purchased Russian gas, which provided more than half of Ukrainian demand. Now Naftogaz purchases reverse gas from Europe. Moreover, at least part of the gas in these volumes is all from Russia; European traders sell unused balances.
