Ukraine calls American ships to the Sea of Azov
Ukraine expects that warships of Western partners will help Kyiv cope with the “Russian threat.”
Ukrainian Ambassador to the United States Valeriy Chaly stated this in an interview with Evropeyskaya Pravda, noting that two American Island-class boats will be transferred to Kyiv, which will pay for their transportation and equipment.
According to him, in the Sea of Azov “the situation is escalating, the Russians continue to gradually seize positions.”
“Can we compare with the Russian Black Sea Fleet in terms of power? No. But we can increase control of maritime space and create a component of corresponding systems on land. And we can count on the patrolling of our partners’ ships and their presence in the Black Sea. Including American ships,” says the diplomat.
The publication asked whether American ships could enter the Sea of Azov.
“That's another question. The entry of ships, including military ones, into Azov is currently not regulated. There is no ban, says Chaly. – Many more such questions will arise. There is a threat that this will provoke a further escalation of the conflict in the maritime space, and the Russians seem to be seeking this.”
