Ukrainian detained in Belarus for industrial espionage

This was announced by the head of the Consular Support Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Vasily Kirilich, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports with reference to the press service of the department.
“The Ukrainian Embassy sent a note to the Belarusian Foreign Ministry in connection with information about the detention of a Ukrainian citizen who was in this country for business purposes,” Kirilich said.
According to him, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs calls on the Belarusian side to immediately report the reasons and circumstances of the detention, as well as the place and conditions of detention of the Ukrainian citizen.
Let us remind you that it was previously reported that the Foreign Ministry confirmed the detention of Ukrainian journalist Pavel Sharoiko in Belarus. The Ambassador of Ukraine to Belarus Igor Kizim noted that the diplomatic services are looking into this situation and are monitoring the issue.
According to a number of Belarusian media reports, the reason for the detention of the Ukrainian could be suspicions of industrial espionage.
