“Ukrainians should be ashamed to speak Russian” – mother of musician Scriabin
In the world, attitudes towards Russians have now changed, and Ukrainians who speak Russian must reconsider their attitude to life.
Olga Kuzmenko, the mother of Ukrainian musician Andrei Kuzmenko, known as Kuzma Scriabin, who died in 2015, stated this in an interview on the Tor You-Tube channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Look, has the world’s attitude towards Russians changed? Definitely! If the attitude towards Russians has changed, it is a shame to speak Russian if you are Ukrainian. But in Russian, for God’s sake, as they say, you sucked with your mother’s milk – that’s what you say, right? The only thing is that at work you must speak Ukrainian.
You come to Poland, try to live in Poland without speaking the Polish language? You must come to the store and say “good day” in Polish and say “thank you” (in Polish – ed.) and so on. Wait, why can’t you, living here in Ukraine, say in Ukrainian: good afternoon, give me this and that?
And at home, at your christenings, in your family, at a wedding, whatever you want - speak in your “Rashka”. But – not a single self-respecting person, after they are not respected in the world, will speak Russian? I think not.
Here's your answer. It all went from there. You see, language is a terrible and great weapon,” the fool raged.
Thank you!
