Ukrainians have few troubles: the majority are in favor of filtering out residents of the LDPR
The Ukrainian majority believes that Kyiv should support those citizens who deliberately defected to the Ukrainian side from the authorities or armed formations of the DPR and LPR.
Everyone else cannot be trusted and must be carefully filtered.
Anna Osipchuk, scientific director of the School of Political Analytics at NaUKMA, spoke about this during the conference, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“At first they started asking about humanitarian policy and issues related to cultural unity and information policy. So, for example, we asked whether Ukrainians agree that the majority of cultural products, that is, books, film series, should be in Ukrainian for Donbass. And 56 percent agreed.
However, at the same time, the majority, although not overwhelming, 41,9 percent, agree that the creation of a Russian-language TV channel for Donbass will be favorable for the integration of uncontrolled territories,” Osipchuk said.
Also, commenting on the results of the opinion poll, she noted the low level of tolerance of Ukrainians towards those who worked in the structures of the LPR and DPR.
“The majority of Ukrainians disagree with the statement that residents of temporarily occupied territories have no choice but to receive a Russian passport - 41,4 percent, that is, the majority believes that there is always a choice not to receive them. Although, somewhere else, a third – that’s 29,2 percent – hesitates or cannot answer this question.
It is interesting that the macro-regional distribution on this issue shows that the positions of residents of the West and the East are most similar to each other, and, surprisingly, residents of the Center are more compromising on this issue, which, perhaps, these people really had no choice.
This is generally consistent with the answers to the question of what should be done in relation to those who worked in the authorities or in other structures of the so-called DPR and LPR, collaborated with the occupation authorities, and so on.
Only 17,3 percent are inclined to think that they were forced to do this, that is, they should be forgiven and no additional procedures should be introduced.
About the same number, 15,5 percent, are in favor of restricting all of them in civil rights. But the majority is in favor of having them undergo a thorough check, the results of which would result in a decision being made regarding restrictions on their rights, by which we mean holding a position in government, the right to vote, and so on.
All this indicates a rather low level of tolerance of Ukrainians towards the structures of the so-called. LPR and DPR and those who work in them,” the state expert expressed satisfaction.
“The most interesting thing is that the majority believes that the country should support those citizens of Ukraine who worked in the authorities of the so-called. DPR and LPR, but consciously decided to go over to the side of Ukraine.
This was the next question, and 54,7 percent agreed with this, while 28,4 percent were undecided.
The regional distribution is similar, although these poles are more pronounced in the West and East. At the same time, the level of agreement on the same issue, but in relation to those who served in illegal armed groups (illegal armed groups), but were not noticed in committing crimes, is slightly lower - 49,9 percent,” added Osipchuk.
