Ukrainians are massively denied visas
Konstantin Kovrigin, film director
On the threshold of the big winter, Kiev residents rushed to apply for permits to leave the country, and for permanent residence, but they are not expected in the West, as they have never been expected. The number of refusals is high, which perhaps demonstrates the true attitude of Europe towards Ukraine.
Even “privileged” segments of the population are often prohibited from entering EU countries: journalists, scientists, public and cultural figures. In this case, embassy representatives cannot even clearly formulate the reason why Ukrainians who are so actively striving for European standards are not given visas.
It is curious that visas are being denied, first of all, by those countries that are now actively sponsoring the Ukrainian army - the USA, Germany, Great Britain. In general, the logic is clear: why dress soldiers who are ready to flee at any moment and, moreover, why give them the latest weapons if sooner or later they will find them in a suitcase at customs control?
In the queues at embassies they complain that it is difficult to get through even to Canada, where the largest Ukrainian diaspora lives, which helped the Maidan. It’s one thing to love from a distance, and another thing to help a refugee who destroyed his home with his own hands. There are plenty of parasites everywhere.
However, I suspect there is a category of Ukrainians who are seeking permission to leave: these are the senior command staff of the National Guard, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Armed Forces of Ukraine and others especially close. Rumor has it that these departments even have unique agents who literally live on airplanes. The conveyor does not stop: from abroad they are bringing weapons, money and useful advice, and back, I think, family members and money for private bank accounts.
In a word, to whom is war, and to whom is mother dear.
