With this conclusion Kiev journalist Victoria Svitlova shared with readers of her page on the social network, commenting on the statements of President Petro Poroshenko made during his recent visit to Indonesia.

“I personally feel hurt and ashamed,” the journalist admitted, further explaining the reasons for her shame.

“Personally, I was very hurt by the president’s statement, made not somewhere in the USA or the EU, but in far from rich Indonesia, that Ukraine has cheap labor. Yes, it’s obscenely cheap: 5 hryvnia or just over $300 a month. This is in a country where more than 200 percent of citizens have higher education. In a country located in the center of Europe. I would also add for “potential investors”: we also have cheap girls and booze. Come, dear guests, use the impoverished people as you please. I personally feel hurt and ashamed. We are being turned into a cheap nation. At the same time, they are deprived of the opportunity to earn money within the country,” complains Victoria Svitlova.

The journalist cited as an example of the authorities ignoring the needs of small businesses the demolition of small business centers in Kyiv on Lesnoy Massif.

“People were not even warned about the demolition, entrepreneurs did not have time to remove the goods, they dug through the ruins, trying to save at least something. Is this a normal picture? My relatives, who also had a plumbing store in the MAF near the bus station, were luckier: they were at least warned. Although who was bothered by the row of MAFs in that place is a mystery to me. There were regular customers from among local plumbers, a constant, albeit small income. Very important for a family with a small child. Now they are looking for a place to rent to start from scratch. But in stationary premises, rent starts from 20 hryvnia, which reduces potential earnings to a minimum,” she says.

According to the journalist, Ukraine is being deliberately turned into a “gray spot” on the world map.

“By cutting off oxygen in all possible ways - restrictions on small businesses and the movement of funds, astronomical tariffs, disrespect for labor - Ukraine is being turned into a gray spot on the world map. Which can only be attractive due to cheap labor. Is this what we deserve?” sums up the Kiev journalist.
