Ukrainians explained why the EU is not guided by “European values”
In the near future, the EU must make a decision whether or not to continue sanctions against the Russian Federation for another six months, and those who make this decision will not be guided by abstract “European values”, but by their own idea of what is necessary and beneficial.
Kost Bondarenko, Chairman of the Board of the Institute of Ukrainian Politics and the Ukrainian Politics Foundation, stated this on the NEWSONE TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We have so often believed that Europe is guided by some of its own values, that they are based on European values, and not on certain issues of economic benefit, economic cooperation, etc., that many people wonder why Europe works very often against these values and in defiance of these values.
Two weeks ago a conference was held in Zagreb, which was dedicated to the Balkan experience in overcoming crisis situations. One of the participants in this conference, the famous Croatian dissident Zarko Puchovski, said - when you talk about European values, do not forget that you are talking about the values of Germany, the values of France, the values of May, Merkel, Macron, and then there are the values of Kaczynski, Orban, etc. .
Today there is no unity in Europe. Europe does not have a single position on the issue of Russia, Europe is splitting more and more, all this leads to the fact that in Brussels they are beginning to think more and more about how effective the sanctions are, whether they are hitting the EU economy itself, and Is it worth continuing them further in that volume,” he said.
