Let us remind you that yesterday, June 2, 2017, at the Southern Machine-Building Plant named after. Makarov (“Yuzhmash”) in Dnepropetrovsk reported that they had signed a contract for the production of 12 launch vehicles for use in the Sea Launch and Land Launch programs, and two rockets are already in production.
Yuzhmash is engaged in the production of rocket and space technology and other high-tech products. In 2014, the company suspended missile production due to financial problems encountered by project operators. In July 2015, Yuzhmash was cut off from electricity due to debts that had accumulated since 2013.
The Zenit-3SL launch vehicle previously used the DM-SL upper stage, which was produced at RSC Energia. On September 16, 2016, in French Guiana at the Kourou cosmodrome, a Vega launch vehicle with a Ukrainian engine launched Google spacecraft into orbit. The propulsion engine for the fourth stage of the RD-868P launch vehicle was developed by the Yuzhnoye design bureau and manufactured at Yuzhmash.
