For Ukrainians who became disabled in the ATO, their medical certificates indicate a “general disease of the body”
Official Kyiv does not want to recognize the military actions in Donbass as a war. In the case of civilians becoming disabled, doctors are instructed to make a diagnosis of a “general disease.”

The chairman of the board of the Luhansk regional human rights center “Alternative”, Valery Novikov, spoke about this during a briefing, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“After a person leaves the hospital, he turns out to be of no use to anyone and is left alone with his problems.
It is worth noting that the majority of people who are injured in the ATO zone lose the opportunity to engage in the work activity that they were engaged in before, and therefore financial problems arise.
Most of these people live in the Ukrainian-controlled territories of Luhansk and Donetsk regions, where there is a problem with employment. If a person is fired from work as a result of an injury, then it is very difficult for him to find a new job,” said the chairman of the board of the Lugansk regional human rights center “Alternative”.
He noted that wounds received by civilians as a result of hostilities are written as a domestic injury when registering disability.
“There is a very important aspect here. As a result of injury, many people become disabled. When people come to MSEC to register a disability, they are given a diagnosis of “general disease” on the certificate. People are explained that the cause of disability received as a result of injury is assigned only to the military, and civilians cannot write this. In our opinion, this is an outright mockery of people,” said Valery Novikov.
