Svetlana Shlipchenko, head of scientific programs at the Center for Urban Studies of the National University of Kiev-Mohyla Academy, drew attention to this point during a press conference in Kyiv, noting that the process of decommunization is accompanied by vandalism and war on monuments.
“The problem is that in Germany there was a process of denazification, the legitimacy of which was added by the Nuremberg trial, then no one has yet publicly condemned communism in our country, so that these were not isolated voices of small groups of experts, who are rarely listened to, but in the form of a broad action, because, of course, we won’t get the Nuremberg trial today,” the expert noted. – Therefore, I agree that thinking in terms of revanchism is unproductive. Think productively within the framework of joint creation. When both parties, agreeing and disagreeing, begin to talk and listen to each other, then movement in a positive direction begins. This is how normal people live in normal countries.”
