Ukrainians owe a billion hryvnia for sick leave
The Commissioner for Human Rights of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Lyudmila Denisova, called on the head of the board of the Social Insurance Fund, Vladimir Sayenko, and the Minister of Social Policy of Ukraine, Yulia Sokolovskaya, to immediately make changes to the Fund’s budget due to more than UAH 1 billion in debt for “temporary disability,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The authorized representative of the Verkhovna Rada reported this on her personal Facebook page.
“I urge the head of the board of the Social Insurance Fund, Vladimir Sayenko, and the Minister of Social Policy of Ukraine, Yulia Sokolovskaya, to immediately make changes to the Fund’s budget. I learned that the debt in payment of temporary disability certificates for employees is already more than 1 billion UAH. Payments are not being made due to the fact that the Fund’s stabilization funds planned for the current year have run out,” Denisova noted.
According to her, in order to restore the violated rights of citizens, it is necessary to hold a meeting of the Fund’s board, at which the draft amendments to the Fund’s budget should be considered and approved, after which the approved draft should be submitted to the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine for submission to the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine for approval.
In this situation, Denisova also turned to Prime Minister Goncharuk with a request to influence the situation.
“In addition, I appeal to the Prime Minister of Ukraine Alexey Goncharuk with a request to immediately take measures to stabilize the financial condition of the Social Insurance Fund of Ukraine,” the commissioner concluded.
Earlier, People's Deputy from Petro Poroshenko's party Alexey Goncharenko reported on his Telegram channel that the Cabinet of Ministers had allocated and distributed UAH 203 million to pay off wage arrears to teachers and doctors.
“We allocated and distributed 203 million stabilization subsidies between the regions. This is one of the tools to pay off salary arrears for teachers and doctors,” Goncharenko wrote.
After this, information appeared on the Cabinet of Ministers website that on November 27, the government would redistribute more than UAH 170 million to pay arrears of teachers’ salaries and UAH 326 million for salaries for doctors.
