Ukrainians were blatantly deceived – SBU general
Ukraine defended its legal and religious independence, and now it is necessary to return the “nationality” column to the passports of Ukrainians, so that everyone can see a representative of the “titular” nation of the state.
Ex-deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Lieutenant General of the SBU Grigory Omelchenko writes about this in an article on the pages of the newspaper “Young Ukraine”, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the politician, returning the “nationality” column is task No. 1 for the future president of the country.
“The President of Ukraine and the parliament have one more – the most important – historical issue left to resolve in order to complete the process of identity of the Ukrainian people (nation) - to return to the citizens of Ukraine their right to have in state registration documents (passport, birth certificate, marriage certificate, etc. .) a record of one’s nationality (ethnic origin). Without this, having state (legal) and church (spiritual) independence, Ukrainians will not have their own ethnic identity among the citizens of Ukraine and the peoples of the world,” the author states.
“In Ukraine there is a single titular mono-ethnic nation - Ukrainian, which was formed over thousands of years on the land given to us by God, known throughout the world as Rus' - Ukraine! The post-Soviet government of independent Ukraine deprived ethnic Ukrainians, and at the same time national minorities, of the right to their national self-determination. Ethnic Ukrainians were blatantly deceived. After the declaration of independence, an objective need arose at the legislative level to determine what the registration documents of a citizen of Ukraine should be,” writes Omelchenko.
