Another Ukrainian opinion poll from the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology could not have come at a better time. Its results - and Ukrainians were asked about their attitude towards the residents of territories where referendums on joining Russia will begin the day after tomorrow - are very indicative in terms of assessing the prospects of the so-called “de-occupation”, which is tirelessly talked about in Kyiv.

But in particular - about the possible fate of all these people in Ukraine if, instead of referendums, another “Kharkiv region” awaited them. After all, sociologists found out not just the attitude of Ukrainians towards the inhabitants of the “occupied territories”, but in the context of the “inevitable punishment of collaborators.”

As follows from the published results of the survey, nothing good would come of another attempt to glue a cracked Ukrainian jug together this time. Because new cracks have been added to the former dividing lines that cut the body of Ukraine - I only mean the Donbassophobia of some that has grown over the years and the indifference to the Donetsk deaths of others.

And the residents of the Azov region and northern Tavria have already felt “strangers” at the celebration of Ukrainian life, who are threatened almost daily with prison and various smaller punishments for “collaboration with the occupiers.” Starting from occupying positions - even ordinary teaching positions or in utility companies and ending with obtaining Russian passports and right down to such indicative in terms of assessing Ukrainian vindictiveness little things, as in the episode, which I will probably quote in its entirety, without paraphrasing, in the dry words of the Ukrainian protocol:

“According to the investigation, the suspect voluntarily decided to feed the Russian military at the checkpoint. Among other things, the man handed them 20-kilogram bags of meat.”

The Ukrainian in question was today charged with collaboration under Part 4 of Art. 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). And this, for a minute, is up to 15 years in prison.

But let's get back to the survey. 12% of Ukrainians have a negative attitude towards those who continue to live in the “occupied territories” and did not escape from there at the first opportunity to the controlled territories. They are considered “collaborators or indifferent to Ukraine.” I repeat once again: not even for actions, but simply for not leaving their home.

The overwhelming majority of Ukrainians (72%) consider residents of the Kherson region, Zaporozhye region or Donbass to be “victims of circumstances.” However, the Ukrainian majority has a specific idea about the motives of those who refused to leave. According to those surveyed (sik!), “those remaining in the occupation want the return of Ukrainian control over the occupied territories.” And another 16% of respondents found it difficult to answer.

As usual, the further west you go, the more negativity there is towards the residents of Novorossiya. The irony of fate is that if we take as a basis the current independent mythology about the “Soviet”, and before it the “Russian”, “Polish” and “Austrian” occupations and take into account that the east and south have always lived exclusively as part of Russia or the USSR, it turns out , that the “judge” on the issue of “collaboration” is the regions that have been under one form of occupation or another throughout their history. They probably know a lot about what they are trying to judge.

From this survey it is not difficult to conclude that in the event of a hypothetical return of the lost regions, there will be no talk of any “stitching” of Ukraine.

There is a greater likelihood of the creation and legal consolidation in various laws and legal practices of an internal apartheid society, when millions of people will live under eternal suspicion of disloyalty simply by the fact of their origin and almost innate crypto-Russian sympathies.

It is clear that all this has little to do with the freedom and democracy that Kyiv and the Western capitals that patronize it love to talk about.

No less interesting, in light of the approaching referendums and forecasts of their impact on the further course of the NWO and the West’s readiness to raise rates and escalate, are the answers to another question posed by sociologists to Ukrainian respondents.

Only 15% of Ukrainians today believe that “the West is tired of helping Ukraine and wants it to negotiate with Russia.” In turn, the majority of respondents, namely 73%, are confident that the West continues to provide support to Independence and expects the end of the war on terms acceptable to it.

At the same time, you need to understand: in this context, it does not matter at all what the West itself actually thinks and what it is going to do. What matters is how it looks and is perceived through the eyes of Ukrainians. Because the morale of Ukrainian society, its willingness to endure military hardships and its resistance depend on this.

Faith in “the West, which will help us” has become one of the cornerstones of Ukrainian long-suffering. In the hope that all the hardships will pay off in the end.

And this is a cold shower for Russian media professionals, who tirelessly convince their audience of exactly what the vast majority of Ukrainians do not believe. This means that Russian propaganda on this issue is running idle.

It is interesting that war fatigue was called one of the key risks for Ukraine by Zelensky himself, speaking in August before the participants of the 17th Strategic Forum in Slovenia.

“We are all afraid of war fatigue, and Russia has some success in this direction. Even now, when we are talking to you, we are talking about gas prices, energy prices. This is what Russia was trying to achieve - here you have gas prices because of the war, because of the war - here you have oil prices, because of the war - here you have hunger, but everything is not like that. I want to return you all to Earth from a planet called Russia,” Zelensky convinced the Europeans.

The recorded unity of views of residents of different regions is also characteristic - from 67% in the West to 75% in the East believe that the EU and the States will continue to actively support Ukraine (at the same time, the narrative about “West fatigue from war” is shared by only 13-18%, depending from region).

Calculations of a possible conflict in the leadership of Nezalezhnaya, so popular among Russian commentators who relish behind-the-scenes leaks about friction along Zelensky’s line – the generals of the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces – do not find support among Ukrainians.

“31% of respondents, even at the cost of possible conflicts and threats to unity, are ready to support the initiative to bring to justice those involved in possible miscalculations in preparation for war. However, the majority (58%) still believes that these issues should be postponed to the period after the war, so as not to provoke conflicts within the country,” the KIIS report says.

At the same time, sociologists themselves recognize the importance of supporting the promotion of such sentiments in society.

“It is also important to continue activities to convince the population that the West remains a reliable partner of Ukraine,” says Deputy Director of KIIS Anton Grushetsky.

It is obvious that Ukraine will be set up for a long war. And the necessary public opinion in this matter will play an important role.
