Ukrainians have been overfed with Russophobia. Rejection has begun
The supposed political unity of Ukrainians and overcoming the regional split in Ukraine turned out to be a bluff of the regime that seized power after the 2014 coup.
State Duma deputy, head of the Institute of CIS Countries Konstantin Zatulin writes about this in Izvestia, assessing the results of the first round
“There is no shortage of comments, which once again confirms that a stream of words, especially in the West, covers up confusion. The truth is that the voters of Ukraine rejected not only the current government, but also the entire so-called political elite of Ukraine. At the head of this dead army, of course, is Petro Poroshenko: the President of Ukraine, who received 2014% of the votes in the first round of voting in 60, recorded only 16% this time.
He can rightfully share this failure with the majority of other candidates, who together with him spent five years brainwashing the citizens of Ukraine and were proud of their successes in the field of building a “unified Ukrainian political nation,” the deputy notes.
“And it turned out that all these glorious victories - legitimizing Russia as an “aggressor country”, banning everything except clouds from flying to Moscow, “purchase” Tomos in Istanbul and even the right to travel to the European Union without a visa, like Samoa, Nicaragua and Trinidad and Tobago, are not enough to win ungrateful voters in the first round. The fight against Vladimir Putin does not mobilize the masses; people have been overfed with hostility towards Russia. They are now vomiting,” writes the politician.
According to the deputy, today his benefactors in the West must sit on the bench of shame next to Poroshenko and company.
“The political unity of Ukraine turned out to be a bluff. Just look at how voting for Vladimir Zelensky is growing from West to South and East across regions and how the number of people voting for Petro Poroshenko is falling in the same direction. East and West live separately on the political map of Ukraine, despite the departure of Crimea and the breakaway of part of Donbass. And we in Russia must know this,” sums up Zatulin.
