Ukrainians were invited to observe the elections in Belarus
The Belarusian Foreign Ministry has sent invitations to international observers to monitor the parliamentary elections that will be held in November, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The head of the Central Election Commission of Belarus, Lidiya Ermoshina, told reporters about this, BelTA reported.
“Today I received information from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs that letters have been sent to the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, the CIS Executive Committee and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization - that is, observers from international organizations have already been invited,” Yermoshina said.
According to her, the CEC will send invitations “later to colleagues (of the Central Electoral Commissions) abroad and to the World Association of Election Organizers, of which Belarus is a member, and which is based in South Korea.” “We plan to send invitations from the Central Election Commission of Belarus to those to whom we go ourselves (to observe the elections): these are the Russian Federation, Ukraine, Moldova, Armenia, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan,” Yermoshina explained.
However, she found it difficult to name the preliminary number of observers, since the missions have not yet been formed.
