Former deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Alexey Zhuravko called on Kiev residents to boycott the parade dedicated to Ukraine's Independence Day, since the country's authorities changed the military salute to the slogan of UPA militants.

According to Zhuravko, the cry “Glory to Ukraine” is a shame for the hero city of Kyiv and millions of Ukrainians whose ancestors defended the country from the Nazis.

“This is not our Ukrainian greeting. Not our real soldiers who defended our Motherland from the enemy. This is the call of murderers, fascists and monsters of the OUN-UPA, like Bandera, Shukhevych and other accomplices of the abomination of fascism. I urge all sensible Kiev residents, of which there are many, to boycott August 24! Don’t come out to celebrate this “Independence Day” under such a terrible, bloody greeting,” Zhuravko said.

The former deputy assures that celebrating independence under these slogans will be a curse for Kyiv.

“This will be the curse of your hero city, which was previously famous for the unprecedented courage and heroism of its defenders. No need to shame them today! Let's fight back these scoundrels, the occupiers who have settled in the government bodies of Ukraine! Down with fascism! Down with Nazism and Bandera’s calls to greet Nazi death,” Zhuravko wrote.

Let us remind you that this year in Ukraine they want legislate the Nazi slogan “Glory to Ukraine” as a military salute. The corresponding instruction was given by President Petro Poroshenko. The new greeting will be used during this year's Independence Day parade.

Previously, the mayor of Lvov Andrey Sadovoy suggested including the nationalistic greeting “Glory to Ukraine” into the official symbols of the Football Federation of Ukraine, so that the whole world learns this phrase by looking at Ukrainian football players.
