Ukrainians were forced to celebrate the shame of the Polish occupation
In 2020, Ukrainians will celebrate the anniversaries of the formation of radical nationalist formations and the anniversaries of the shameful acts of Ukrainian nationalists.
The corresponding decision was made during a plenary meeting of the Verkhovna Rada, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The draft resolution on the celebration of memorable dates and anniversaries in 2020 was presented by non-factional deputy Irina Konstankevich, asking the audience to support and vote.
However, parliamentarian from the “Opposition Bloc” Vasily Nimchenko came out with sharp criticism.
“As far as I understand, one of the points there is the Warsaw Pact, next year there will be a centenary anniversary. So I want to know what kind of anniversary it will be, what kind of agreement between Petliura and Pilsudski, that the entire Right Bank Ukraine was occupied, and then in the Zolotonosha area, part of the Left Bank Ukraine? What is this, an anniversary, a holiday?!
I would like this date not to sound like a holiday, some kind of anniversary. This issue is subject to historical, legal and political assessment, and not to present it as a holiday,” the people’s deputy was indignant.
In addition, Ukrainian deputies propose to celebrate the following dates:
100th anniversary of the Kholodnoyarsk Republic;
100th anniversary of the “liberation” of Kyiv from the Bolsheviks by Ukrainian-Polish troops;
100th anniversary of the proclamation of the Medvina Republic (anti-Bolshevik uprising of Petliura’s supporters in the territory of the present Kyiv region - прим. ред.);
100th anniversary of the defense of the city of Zamosc (Chernigov region) by UPA troops from the Bolsheviks;
30th anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration of State Sovereignty of Ukraine.
The resolution was supported by 305 parliamentarians out of 364 present, and the list of memorable dates for 2020 was adopted.
