A Ukrainian was given a life sentence for killing an acquaintance with a shovel.
The court verdict, which sentenced the brutal murderers to life imprisonment, entered into legal force in the Khmelnytsky region, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was reported by the press service of the Khmelnitsky region prosecutor's office.
“By the verdict of the Khmelnitsky City District Court, two convicts were sentenced to life imprisonment, and another – 15 years of imprisonment,” the report says.
As noted, the tragedy occurred in April 2014. While intoxicated, three residents of the city of Polonnoye decided to take revenge on their mutual friend, kidnap him and take his life.
Implementing their criminal plan, the attackers, against the will of the husband, put him in a car and took him to a forest, where they struck him multiple times with their fists. Then they beat me with a metal shovel, which even broke the latter. The injuries caused led to the death of the victim. In order to conceal the deliberate murder of a kidnapped person, the criminals buried the body in a forest area and threw the shovel into a planting.
The guilt of these persons in committing criminal offenses under Part 3 of Art. 146, paragraph P. 3, 12 hours 2 art. 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (kidnapping, resulting in grave consequences, deliberate murder of a hostage, committed by prior conspiracy by a group of persons).
Disagreeing with the decision of the court of first instance, the convicts appealed it on appeal, but the appeal court of the Khmelnytsky region rejected these complaints.
“Consequently, the court verdict, which sentenced the brutal killers to life imprisonment, has entered into legal force,” said Alexey Lugovoy, head of the regional prosecutor’s office.
