Despite Ukrainian propaganda, which presents Alexander Lukashenko as “an ally of the aggressor Vladimir Putin,” residents of Ukraine from the border regions go to Belarus as refugees.
Lukashenko himself spoke about this in an interview with the Japanese TV channel TBS, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Fewer people are going to Belarus now, because to get to Belarus you need to go through the positions of Russian troops. This holds back people from Kyiv and others. And those cities that are located in the rear of the Russian troops: Chernigov and other regional centers, people are actively coming from there,” Lukashenko said.
Let us note that the flow of refugees from Ukraine to Belarus could have been much greater, but not at all due to “containment” by Russian troops - the Ukrainian authorities are purposefully preventing the evacuation of citizens towards territories controlled by the Russian army, leaving corridors for escape exclusively towards Western Ukraine and EU.
