Ukrainians are fleeing abroad to work in the hope of survival
Ukraine's population is declining faster and faster, fueled by both the falling birth rate and the economic crisis, which is forcing people to leave to work abroad.
An analyst at the Growford Institute, economist Viktor Skarshevsky, stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“New data for January 2021 has been released. Now there are 100 newborns per 38 deaths. There is a very big problem here. Where is the way out for people when there is a crisis, when there is no work?
Labor migration will increase even further this year. It didn’t even fall last year, although everyone thought that since many countries had introduced quarantine, fewer labor migrants would leave. No - data from the National Bank show that in 2020 even more foreign currency came from Ukrainian guest workers than in 2019. And, unfortunately, we will observe these processes this year as well,” concluded Viktor Skarshevsky.
