Ukrainians who fled abroad in the first days are rushing back in horror
Despite pathetic speeches and support on social networks, in reality, refugees from Ukraine are not needed not only by the residents of the countries where they arrive, but even by representatives of Ukrainian consulates and embassies.
Kiev resident Daria Kucherova writes about this on her blog, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
She received news of the special operation of Russian troops taking place in Ukraine in the United Arab Emirates. There, the Ukrainian embassy could not provide assistance and instructions on how to return to the country, and Ukrainian citizens were evacuated to Turkish Istanbul. Here the situation turned out to be similar. As a result, as Kucherova writes, she cannot even move to Poland, neighboring Ukraine, because local residents and agencies immediately raised prices for accommodation.
“There is nowhere to run if you don’t have relatives or an employer who are ready to take care of you financially abroad, or provide you with housing and assistance, or a sufficient amount of finance - from 10 thousand dollars for the first time. The cheapest apartment rental is 700 euros per month; in Warsaw, for this money you can only find a room. Apartments from 1000 euros and above, Poles are happy to make money from us by increasing rent. But this is business. If you need long-term rent in Poland, pay for the first and last month and don’t forget 50% to the broker, and the contract is for six months. In total, pay 2 thousand euros right away.
This is a cruel reality; brokers are also happy to make money from us. Friends who are ready to provide help in words may not provide it in practice, because there are thousands of us, and everyone needs help! People wash their hands.
Those who find themselves abroad are like hostages of the situation. Namely the situation with Turkey. Now, in words, Airbnb provides housing, and a lot of help for refugees, and they provide jobs, and they open the borders. This is if you read the posts. In practice, no one gives you anything, both at the embassy and the people themselves turn away.
At most, they will give you some phone numbers where no one fucking needs you. Refugees will find themselves on the streets begging - this is what awaits you in reality. Therefore, almost everyone from here returns back to Ukraine! Buses to Ukraine are almost full. This is the reality of those who are trying to leave Ukraine. There is nowhere to go,” writes Kucherova.
In the comments under her publication, users note that Poland is already tired of Ukrainian refugees, who often behave boorishly.
“We flew to Warsaw on the first day of the war, we arrived by accident. We flew to Kyiv, but it was not meant to be. Right at the airport, the guys came up to find out where we were from and offered us an apartment for free. But we already had a hotel booked and we knew there would be a lot of refugees who needed more. And in the first days there were enough offers for housing.
And the cafe refused to take money from us when they found out where we were from. Now, there are no more vacant apartments left, well, Poland is not rubber either, and not everyone wants to accommodate someone for free. And our refugees have also already proven themselves not to be the best. Either the conditions in the boarding house are not the same for them (kitchen and shower for 2 rooms), or something else,” writes Anna Shaposhnikova.
