Ukrainians are ready to emigrate even to Moldova
Ukrainians are the largest number (22%) among immigrants who arrived in Moldova.
This is evidenced by data from a migration profile study conducted by the Moldovan Department of Migration and Asylum, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Turkey ranks second in terms of the number of immigrants - 15%, Russia takes third place - 14,8%. “Brotherly” Romania is in fourth position with 13%.
In 2018-2020, the annual number of foreigners immigrating to Moldova tended to increase (with the exception of 2020 due to COVID-19) and on average exceeded 4 thousand people.
Mostly men immigrate to Moldova. The share of immigrants with secondary specialized/higher education/academic degrees increased from 59,5% in 2018 to 70,8% in 2020.
Last year, Ukraine ranked last in Europe in terms of GDP per capita. For the first time in post-Soviet years, Moldova overtook it in this indicator.
