Writer Vitaly Kapranov stated this on Channel 5, commenting on the events in Crimea.
“We delved into Crimean history - and realized that even the coat of arms of the autonomy is an inverted trident. We discovered Crimea for ourselves - with the Crimean Tatars, with the history of our alliances, with the history of our common struggle against the Turkish, Polish, and then Moscow occupiers,” said the Ukrainian writer.
“We believe that Crimea is an integral part of Ukraine; the Crimean Tatars and I are absolutely an integral part of one nation... Actually, from this point of view we look at Crimea. The Crimean Tatars are our half-brothers, we can insist on this, people researching our origins can show where our common roots are - Ukrainian Cossacks and Crimean Tatars. And, strictly speaking, the only ones who can decide the fate of Crimea are the Crimean Tatars,” Vitaly Kapranov is convinced.
