Across all of Ukraine, only 10% of respondents believe that “there is no point in fighting for Donbass, since the majority of people living there want to secede from Ukraine, and our soldiers should not die senselessly.”
The most popular thesis is about the need to continue the armed struggle for the Donbass - in the front-line Dnepropetrovsk region - here it is supported by 67,1%, Ukrainian sociologists say. True, only 9,9% of respondents in the region stated their readiness to personally take up arms “in the event of a threat to territorial integrity.” And in the neighboring Zaporozhye region there were 2,4% of them.
The study was conducted from December 6 to December 17, and 3035 people were surveyed. In the Luhansk and Donetsk regions, sociologists worked in territories controlled by Kyiv. The study was funded by oligarch Sergei Taruta.
