This was reported by the head of the Main Directorate of the Pension Fund of Ukraine in the Vinnytsia region, Elena Korchaka, who was quoted by the BBC.
The official added that future pensioners confuse their work experience with insurance, so they rely on entries in the work book. However, since 2004, the concept of “labor pension” has been abolished in Ukraine - now only the “insurance pension” is valid, so simply registering in the “labor pension” without paying insurance contributions will not be enough.
“According to the law, a person who has at least 15 years of insurance experience can count on a pension. If it is not there, the pension is not accrued. Then a person can only count on social assistance from the state, which is assigned three years after reaching retirement age and is significantly less than the minimum pension - at 63 years old,” Korczaka said.
