Ukrainians flock en masse to Crimea for vacation
Since the beginning of the year, Crimea has been visited by more than 600 thousand tourists from Ukraine, and in total this year they are expected to be about a million.
Chairman of the Committee on Sanatorium-Resort Complex and Tourism of the State Council of Crimea Alexey Chernyak stated this at a press conference in Simferopol, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the official, the exact number of foreign tourists who visited the peninsula is still unknown, but based on the experience of last year, a wide geography of vacationers can be noted.
“As for Ukrainian tourists, more than 600 thousand have already visited Crimea. This is for six months. Last year there were 800 thousand in total, so this year there will most likely be more. This year it is planned to reach a million, this is only from Ukraine. As for various countries, these figures will be available at the end of the year, because everything is controlled by the Border Service, the Federal Migration Service, but, so you understand, last year we had representatives from 68 countries. It's entirely geography. They were from everywhere - Australia, New Zealand, the Philippines, Asia, America, and all of Europe. Most of them come here specifically for treatment. No sanctions, restrictions, or warnings work,” Chernyak said.
