“The attempt to mislead the employees of the Border Department was unsuccessful. The citizen of Ukraine was given a written notice of a ban on entry into the territory of the Russian Federation, after which he was sent on the return route,” the Border Guard said in a statement.
The incident occurred at the Dzhankoy multilateral automobile checkpoint. Arriving at the border control, a 33-year-old resident of the Zaporozhye region presented the border guards with an ID card of a citizen of Ukraine (biometric passport). During the document check, it turned out that the man had previously made an attempt to enter the Russian Federation, but under a different name.
In a conversation with passport control officers, the Ukrainian admitted that in March 2017, with a national passport of a citizen of Ukraine, he already tried to get into Russia through one of the checkpoints in the west of the country, but failed. Due to a violation of migration legislation, he is prohibited from entering the territory of the Russian Federation until 2022, of which the young man was notified.
“Having returned to his homeland, the offender, through corruption schemes, issued a new Ukrainian document (ID card), changing his own last name,” the press service explained.
