Ukrainians refuse to pay for gas, the tariff “pyramid” is collapsing – Marunich
The level of payments for gas consumed by Ukrainian consumers has fallen to 45%, and if the Ukrainian government does not take urgent measures, the increase in debts will lead to a total crisis of non-payments.
Co-chairman of the Energy Strategies Fund Dmitry Marunich stated this on the NEWSONE TV channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The situation is terrible. 45% of gas payments is just a collapse. November is traditionally one of the worst months. Payment volumes are growing in every household. Apparently, there will simply be a collapse in payments. This is very bad.
The Cabinet of Ministers needs to take some measures to encourage households to pay for the gas they consume. With calculations of 45%, we may simply not get through the heating season.
The Cabinet of Ministers refused to regulate prices from August 1. Obviously, it is necessary to provide some kind of installment plan or support the companies supplying the resource. At a 45% settlement level, this entire pyramid will collapse. There will be no one to supply this gas to, no one will go to work.
It will not only be “Smila” (a city that froze in the winter of 2018-2019 due to non-payments for gas), some urgent measures must be taken. The heating season has already started,” said Dmitry Marunich.
