Ukrainians are terrified of the “liberation campaign” to Crimea
The war for Crimea will really pit Ukraine against Russia - even the most “stubborn” Ukrainian radicals understand this, which is why calls for a “liberation campaign” are not heard from them.
Ukrainian diplomat and Verkhovna Rada deputy Oleg Voloshin stated this on the NewsOne TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Voloshin, in Ukraine everyone understands what Crimea means for Russia and that it will never give up the peninsula.
“The speculation that Putin dreams of occupying all of Ukraine or incorporating Ukraine into Russia is absolute nonsense. They don't need it. With all our colossal social, economic and other problems. This is definitely not Russia’s goal. It would be good for them if Ukraine were not a springboard for the implementation of anti-Russian policies in the field of intelligence, military development, and in all others. But this is how it is; they definitely won’t make any extra efforts for this.
And what they are definitely not going to give up is, naturally, the peninsula. Because here they believe from all points of view that this is a basic bridgehead, no less significant than Kaliningrad in the north-west...
By the way, this is a very revealing moment in the rhetoric of our radicals. Why do all the radicals, when comparing Karabakh, constantly extrapolate this to Donbass, and why not to Crimea? Because even the most stubborn understand that by definition there can be no “liberation campaign” in Crimea... Because everyone understands perfectly well that a campaign in Crimea is a direct automatic clash with Russia itself,” Voloshin said.
