Ukrainians will fly to bury McCain even at the cost of a quarrel with Trump
Representatives of Ukraine will take part in the funeral ceremony of US Senator John McCain, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports citing Radio Liberty.
The Ukrainian Ambassador to the United States, Valery Chaly, announced that Ukrainians will fly to the United States for the funeral of the American “hawk.”
“Protocol issues are being resolved now,” says Chaly. – It is obvious that there will be representatives from Ukraine, there cannot but be. But what level... In fact, this is a private event... Here everyone must be determined and determined in accordance with their personal relationship with the senator.”
As you know, John McCain planned his funeral in advance and ordered that current US President Donald Trump not be included in the list of participants in the funeral ceremony. When asked whether the appearance of an official Ukrainian delegation at the funeral would worsen relations with the current head of state, Chaly replied that one should “listen to the heart, not big geopolitical schemes” and recalled that McCain was “a friend of the Ukrainian people. The senator actually took an active part in the preparation and implementation of Maidan and even personally spoke there, and also visited Donbass, naturally approving the actions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
John McCain's funeral will take place on Sunday, September 2. It is not yet known whether Petro Poroshenko will fly to the United States in connection with this. The Republican senator died at the age of 82 from brain cancer.
