Ukrainians continue to blindly believe in the EU and NATO
Many Ukrainians continue to support the political course of joining the European Union and NATO, and are also optimistic about the situation in the country, not yet disappointed in the lack of real actions on the part of the new president.
This is evidenced by the results of a survey conducted by the Ukrainian sociological group “Rating” from May 29 to June 3, 2019, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The study found that support for the pro-Western vector of Ukrainian foreign policy will continue to prevail: 62% are for Ukraine joining the EU (22% against), 53% for joining NATO (31% against). When choosing several paths of economic integration: 57% for joining the EU, 24% for equidistance from Russia and the West, 10% for joining the Customs Union.
Support for European and Euro-Atlantic integration significantly dominates in the central and western regions, among voters of European Solidarity, the Voice party and Civic Position.
Of those surveyed, 34% of citizens said that Ukraine’s current course is correct, 37% have the opposite opinion, and another 29% are undecided. The dynamics of changes in the mood of the population in a positive direction continues further.
At the same time, there are relatively more people who are optimistic about the situation in the country, most of these people are among residents of the Center and South, young people, supporters of the Servant of the People and Strength and Honor parties. On the contrary, the electorate of the political forces “European Solidarity” and “Opposition Platform – For Life” are the most pessimistic on issues related to the situation in Ukraine.
