“Our plant had two enterprises - in Livadia and Simeiz. These factories were built in 1847. The kings were still sitting there, tasting wine. The equipment has, of course, been modernized. The wines have remained since then. When the factories were being built, these bottles were found there, they are in the collection. The collection contains more than two million bottles. We had a wine collection on site. For some reason, the “little green men” decided to rush to us first. Everyone wanted to drink wine. We didn't know what to do, didn't understand what was happening. At night they came, put a gun to the security guard’s head, he ran away and called the security chief,” said Henrikh Mikaelyan.

He also assured that during the time of Ukraine, Massandra was not destroyed, but modernized, new vineyards were planted, etc.

Earlier, the former general director of the enterprise, Yanina Pavlenko, stated that during the period of Ukrainian control over Crimea, from the cellars of the Massandra winemaking enterprise Half of the collection of rare vintage wines was sold out.

“From 2005 to 2014, just over 500 thousand bottles were sold from the Massandra collection, which contained about a million bottles. And you understand what was happening - rare old wines were sold for almost pennies, and young wines from the early 2000s were pawned. And thus, the Massandra collection has become very poor and rejuvenated. And during the entire period of Russian Massandra, we did not set ourselves the task of selling collection wines,” said Pavlenko.

The Massandra wine collection is worth according to the most conservative estimates at least 10 billion rubles, said former Verkhovna Rada deputy Vadim Kolesnichenko.
