Ukrainians consider searches by militias a humiliation, but they agree to it in order to reduce losses
Kyiv, January 09 (PolitNavigator, Maxim Karpenko) – The practice of searching Ukrainian military personnel arriving for rotation at the Donetsk airport is humiliating and no one likes it, but it cannot be avoided. Adviser to the President of Ukraine Yuriy Biryukov stated this on Hromadske TV.

According to him, such agreements were reached with the Donetsk side in order to avoid casualties among the Ukrainian military.
“An agreement was reached that further rotation of the armed forces at the airport would be carried out by road, and not through the runway, and an agreement was reached that the fighters would bring no more than one round of ammunition per person there. Nobody likes such a humiliating security screening procedure, but I’ve been to the airport twice. Both approaches were along the runway, and every time we entered and the other guys went through a rotation, there were always wounded and dead,” Biryukov said.
