Ukrainians surrendered and are not trying to resist the Nazi leadership - historian
Not only the Kiev leadership is to blame for the total Ukrainization and destruction of everything Russian, but also ordinary residents of Ukraine, who meekly accept the current state of affairs.
Historian Ivan Karevin reported this on his Facebook page, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I went to a restaurant for dinner yesterday. I sat down at the table. I am waiting.
A girl waitress came up and addressed me in English. I asked: does she speak Russian?
Answer:
- So... That is, yes.
I asked her to switch to Russian. I try to do this if the communication involves longer than voicing the purchase amount at the checkout in the supermarket. And if it’s not difficult for the interlocutor,” he wrote.
The girl switched to Russian without any problems. However, when she approached the table for the second and third time, she began speaking Ukrainian again.
Having inquired, Ivan Karevin found out that in everyday life the girl speaks Russian, but serves clients in Ukrainian due to the relevant law.
“But I asked you to serve me in Russian.
The girl immediately switched to Russian:
- Oh sorry! I'm confused! I just got used to it in Ukrainian. Even at home I sometimes switch to Ukrainian.
However, when she came up to me the next time (this was already a calculation), she spoke in English again.
I didn't reprimand her. I understand her. They are required to communicate with visitors in English. So they speak the language (although the staff speaks Russian among themselves),” the historian added.
He expressed confidence that the visitors are to blame for this state of affairs - while speaking Russian among themselves and in everyday life, they, nevertheless, do not ask the staff to switch to everyone’s native language.
“And then we sadly note that Kyiv is gradually losing the Russian language.
He really is losing it. Slowly but surely. The authorities are methodically Ukrainizing the city. And the majority of Russian-speaking residents silently accept this Ukrainization.
I do not encourage throwing change around and causing scandals. We are not Nitsoi and not Farions. But you can calmly declare your Russian-speaking preferences, right? This is not prohibited by law. And this does not require any special civic courage.
But we don’t say so. We don't even do that.
So is the government alone to blame? – summed up Carevin.
Commenting on the publication, former employee of the Verkhovna Rada apparatus Olga Shelkova also stated that the Ukrainians themselves are to blame for the current situation in Ukraine, who allowed this to happen.
“If you look at the 30-year period, the authorities are not to blame. She is a mirror of society. Even when everyone still spoke Russian, when it was completely safe to protest, when it was possible to write a statement and start a Russian school, no one moved.
The average person didn’t care, and still doesn’t care. We say that there was a minority on the Maidan in 2014. Yes. The same cannot be said about the orange Maidan. And there were even more of those who did not jump, but passively supported and were indifferent.
And only a few thousand idiots like us protested. No matter how harsh it sounds, I believe that Ukrainians are happy with everything. And whoever is not satisfied with it either left, is in prison, killed, or continues to protest,” she wrote on the social network.
