The relevant data were obtained during a public opinion poll conducted by TNS Ukraine, commissioned by the Ukrainian Institute of World Politics (INP), and presented at a press conference in Kyiv.
Respondents were asked the question: “Which country’s foreign policy today should become an example for Ukraine?”
Switzerland was in first place (12,2%), Poland was in second (11,3%), and Germany was in third (11,2%).
It is noteworthy that Belarus came in fifth place (8,1%), only 0,1% behind the United States, which took fourth place in the survey.
3% of respondents each want Ukraine to follow the example of Georgia and Russia, and only 0,7% of Ukrainians would like to emulate France.
It must be said that representatives of the IMP, a pro-European and pro-Atlantic structure, were embarrassed by the high rating of Belarus in the survey.
“Belarus, one might say, stands apart in its own way, but it is clear why Ukrainians sympathize with this country,” First Deputy Head of the IMP Sergei Solodko commented on the survey. – And we know that among world leaders the Belarusian president is also quite popular among Ukrainians. It is obvious that some Ukrainians sympathize with the imaginary stability of Belarus.”
