“Ukrainians are storming our country. A record was set for popularity among immigrants on the eastern border. The reason for this phenomenon is the ongoing war in Ukraine,” the newspaper writes.
Immigrants from Ukraine work for less money than Poles. Thus, employers are keen to hire them. “I would love to move my wife and daughter here, but formally it is difficult,” the newspaper quotes Alexander, a labor migrant from Ukraine who has been working in Poland for eight months. He believes that there is no need to return to Ukraine.
Meanwhile, from January to November last year, 359 thousand people officially applied for a work visa in Poland. This is 134 thousand more than for the entire 2013 year.
