Ukrainians hide family members sick with Covid from the state
Due to the extreme high cost of tests and medicines for coronavirus, many Ukrainians are hiding their infected and sick relatives and are feverishly trying to collect the amount necessary for treatment.
A resident of the Kharkov region who called the studio stated this on air on the 4 Public TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Such a quarantine and all the actions of our government will lead to nothing. What is being done now is to extend this quarantine until there is free treatment and free tests. Because a family where someone is sick hides the sick person and tries to earn at least something to save a family member.
Maybe there, in Kyiv, there are free tests, but in other places, as far as I know and am interested, a lot of money is spent on treatment, the tests are also very expensive.
And so, all carriers hide that they are carriers, and thus the coronavirus spreads until there are free medicines and free tests,” he said.
In turn, the mayor of Zhytomyr Sergei Sukhomlin admitted that the real epidemiological situation in Ukraine is much worse than officially stated.
“We carried out selective ELISA testing according to the local council. And it turned out that approximately 40% of people had already recovered from the disease. This suggests that the real situation in Ukraine is many times worse than official statistics say, it is many times different from it,” Sukhomlin said.
