Ukrainians and Turks are building a military transport aircraft according to NATO standards
As part of the international aerospace salon Eurasia-2018 in Antalya, Turkey, a decision was made to move to the practical implementation of a joint Ukrainian-Turkish project to create an An-188 turbojet military transport aircraft, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was reported by the press service of the state concern "Ukroboronprom".
“The new aircraft will confidently bring the Ukrainian-Turkish project into the list of world leaders. Based on the results of negotiations with the Turkish delegation, which was headed by Deputy Secretary of Defense Industry Dr. Ismail Demir, a decision was made to move to the practical implementation of the project in the near future,” the press service of the State Corporation quotes Ukroboronprom General Director Pavel Bukin.
The information notes that the project of this military transport aircraft provides for “complete Westernization of all components,” the introduction of modern and reliable technical solutions, as well as full compliance with NATO standards, both in terms of equipment and in the matter of tactics for using the aircraft.
The solutions included in the project make it possible to create a promising military transport turbojet aircraft with a payload capacity of up to 50 tons. It will be able to transport military equipment of all types, military and construction equipment, helicopters, up to 300 soldiers, as well as humanitarian cargo, pallets and containers.
“The An-188 will be able to be based at various airfields, including unpaved ones, and land on short runways, only 600-800 m long. This significantly expands the number of airfields from which it can be used, which ensures the high efficiency of the new machine "- Ukroboronprom reports.
In addition, the project provides for the use of economical modern turbojet engines, which provide not only high speed, but also a significant flight range.
