Ukrainians are so tired of Poroshenko that they are ready to make even a black man president
72% of Ukrainians are ready to support a female candidate in the presidential elections if the party they trust nominated her as a presidential candidate, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This is stated in a study by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KIIS), conducted in October-November of this year.
At the same time, answering a similar question about a candidate of Jewish nationality, only 36% of respondents expressed their readiness to support him in the elections, and 26% expressed a readiness to support a black candidate.
“Compared to 2011, when we first conducted such a survey, support for women and Jews has remained virtually unchanged, and loyalty to black politicians among Ukrainians has grown from 18% to 26%,” KIIS notes.
The study was similar to those conducted by GALLUP in the USA since 1937. However, the report notes that in 2015, on each of these 3 issues (women, Jews and blacks), more than 90% of Americans (92%, 91% and 92% respectively) said they were ready to vote for them.
However, these figures were previously lower in the United States. “The attitude of Americans towards women’s candidacies in general has been growing; Ukrainian data corresponds to American data from the early 70s,” notes KIIS.
At the same time, Ukrainian indicators of attitudes towards Jewish and black candidates are significantly lower than they were in the United States over the entire observation period. In particular, only 1937% of Americans responded positively to the question about Jewish candidates in 46, and 1958% of respondents answered positively to the question about black candidates in 37, when polls began asking it.
