Ukrainians killed their deputy in Moldova
The Moldovan prosecutor's office has completed the investigation and transferred to court a case filed against two Ukrainian citizens who are accused of murdering a former deputy of the Zhytomyr Regional Council in 2018 on the territory of Moldova.
This was reported by the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
One of the accused was detained in Belgium and extradited to Moldova. The search for his accomplice continues.
The body of a murdered 59-year-old ex-deputy of the Zhytomyr Regional Council was found in a well in May 2018. He was strangled.
The investigation showed that the accused planned the murder in advance and lured the victim to Moldova, hoping to avoid punishment.
“The motive for the murder is not yet clear, since the detainee is not giving evidence. But one of the reasons for the murder is the professional activity of the victim. There is also every reason to believe that this was a contract killing, and the suspects are killers,” said prosecutor Corneliu Bratunov.
