According to him, representatives of the IMF will arrive to discuss gas prices for the country's population with the Ukrainian authorities.

“Of course, the visit of the IMF mission is a good sign. We expect a serious conversation at the final stage. Conversation on those nuances that remain. Of the three complex issues that were considered, we resolved two, but the third remained. Therefore, now we are talking about other aspects of interaction with the IMF, in particular, on gas tariffs. This issue is more complicated, it is internal and it is the responsibility of the government. I think that we need to look for a solution here now,” said Valery Chaly.

In addition, the official said that the parties plan to discuss the adoption of Ukrainian anti-corruption legislation.

“It is obvious that the adoption of anti-corruption legislation is a condition for providing additional loans. We expect an IMF mission to Ukraine in September and consideration of these issues,” the ambassador said.

We would like to remind you that PolitNavigator previously reported that The IMF insists on increasing the price of gas for the population of Ukraine, which, according to various estimates, can range from 30% to 60%.

Also, the head of the Committee of Economists of Ukraine Andriy Novak previously stated that the government of Ukraine could receive IMF loans without increasing tariffs for the population, but this requires real reforms.
