The US Navy landing ship Fort McHenry entered the Black Sea, the official website of the US Navy reported.
“Fort McHenry's entry into the Black Sea reaffirms our collective commitment to Black Sea security and strengthens our strong relationships with our NATO allies and partners in the region,” said Vice Adm. Lisa Franchetti, commander of U.S. 6th Fleet.
The Americans emphasized that their navy “regularly operates in the Black Sea in accordance with international law, including the Montreux Convention” - in 2018, Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyers, command ships and landing ships entered the Black Sea.
Russian media, citing a source at the headquarters of the Russian Navy, have already reported that the American ship was tracked by the Black Sea Fleet patrol ship “Inquisitive,” which monitors the actions of the guests after passing the Turkish straits.
