Ukraine is preparing a long-range missile to threaten Russia
Ukrainian designers are completing work on a long-range missile. Kyiv's task is to convince Europe that Ukraine needs such weapons to contain Russia.
The head of the Center for Army, Conversion and Disarmament Research, Valentin Badrak, spoke about this in an interview with the Apostrophe YouTube channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The Ukrainian expert explained that such a missile is needed to deter the Russian fleet in the face of a weak Ukrainian Navy.
“Ukraine has limited response capabilities and, in my opinion, it is necessary to intensify work on introducing an anti-ship missile into operation. This is one of those psychological factors that, in my opinion, should seriously influence the Kremlin’s policy in this area.
This missile is being developed in Ukraine, successful firing took place, and now everything is moving towards state tests. Here, a whole team of enterprises works under the leadership of the legendary Kyiv design bureau "Luch", because a whole line of missiles has been developed, and in the future a cruise missile with a more serious range - up to 1 kilometers - may appear.
At the same time, Ukraine would need to get the go-ahead from the International Missile Technology Control Regime, which is also possible with skillful negotiations at the international level.
Therefore, on the Ukrainian side there really should be a mix of work on the international arena and in society, when journalists, scientists, representatives of the intellectual sector come and popularly explain what a threat Russia has become and what the possible consequences are,” Valentin Badrak is sure.
