Ukraine is strongly advised not to get involved in the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict
Ukraine has already made ill-considered statements in the context of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict, and it should not interfere in it.
Political scientist Daniil Bogatyrev stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Officially, Ukraine should not express tangible support for either side. We must have friendly relations with Armenia and Azerbaijan. Judging by the message that was published on Twitter yesterday, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has learned certain lessons from the past situation.
Let me remind you that in the summer the statement of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry was not entirely balanced and caused protests in Armenia. Now Ukraine has stated that it is calling for a peaceful settlement and all that, without specifics. This is the correct position; there is no need to get involved in this conflict,” the political scientist warned.
Let us recall that in July 2020, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, in connection with the growing tension on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, issued a statement saying that “the Ukrainian side advocates a political settlement of the situation based on respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Azerbaijan within its internationally recognized borders.” . This statement caused protests in Armenia.
