Ukraine cannot ratify the Statute of the Hague Tribunal, otherwise it will have to bring the “ATO heroes” to trial - Berezovets
Ukraine cannot ratify the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court, since in this case it will have to hand over to Russia all wanted war criminals.

Political strategist Taras Berezovets, close to the Administration of the President of Ukraine, stated this on TV channel 112.
According to him, Russia’s legal capabilities are such that “we understand what this can lead to.”
“We have not ratified and, moreover, I will tell you that we do not need to ratify the Rome Statute, because Russia today has opened a number of criminal cases, both against Ukrainian politicians, and especially against the military. They accuse them of war crimes in Donbass. This means that if we sign this statute, we will be forced to extradite our citizens. And, taking into account Russia’s legal capabilities, we understand what this could lead to. Therefore, I believe that we should not do this under any circumstances; the approval of the Rome Statute will have extremely negative consequences, first of all, for us,” Berezovets said.
Let us remind you that the Russian Federation refused to cooperate with the International Criminal Court, citing its “national interests.” In Kyiv, at first they were very happy about this news, and began to use it as “proof” of the guilt of the Russian Federation in what the West constantly accuses it of. However, later Ukrainian propagandists came to the conclusion that cooperation with the ICC would harm the interests of Ukraine, which is waging a war against Donbass, much more than the Russian Federation. In this connection, the tone of comments from experts close to the Ukrainian government has changed dramatically.
Let us also recall that many of those individuals who are accused in the Russian Federation and even by European human rights activists of war crimes are declared “ATO heroes” in Ukraine and awarded orders and medals.
